$25k Paycheck Gift from God

When I decided to go full-time into business with Leo’s support, we did not know what we were in for.

For the whole of last year, as I devoted my time into building the business infrastructure, we were really living by faith. After all, this is one couple who aims to get married, hold their ceremony, go for honeymoon and buy a house within a year’s time.

As the business takes time to build, I had at times contemplated of giving up and wondered if only I’d continued working, it would ease our financial strains. Yes, we were living on 1 income and my past savings with all these marriage expenses coming up.

But we were really in for a little surprise from God.

At the perfect timing where God led us to buy the house, the Gov announced the budget – more help will be given to first time home buyers! This additional grant is for low to middle income earning couples. We qualify because I’d not hold a regular paying job for quite a while now and our combined income over the last 12-24 months falls in the range of the subsidy!

However, we did went through a period of testing before we got the grant. This was because the grant only takes effect for applications to buy the flat on 6 Feb onwards. We applied on 12 Jan. We appealed to HDB on the basis that since our official processing of our application is only during our 1st HDB appointment on 12-Feb, we should be part of the recipients of the government’s budget aimed to help as many Singaporeans as possible in this time of recession. When we finally heard the verbal news from them 2 days ago that we will be getting our additional grant, we praise God for His perfect timing in guiding us to buy the house. Now we know why, in spite of our first-time home buyer privileges, we got lousy queue numbers and ended up taking more than 5 months to get our house! Had we been even a week earlier, we would have missed out this budget subsidy!

My income for 2008 was $25k for doing the Lord’s work! He never shortchanges us!
